The August report for Australian retail trade saw turnover unexpectedly contracting by 0.6% m/m, contrary to expectations for 0.3% m/m growth. Elsewhere, narrow ranges have prevailed. USD-JPY has plied a sideways path near 111.75, which is about the halfway mark of the range of the last week.
