This has come amid a backdrop of recovering global stock markets, with Trump meeting strong public opposition from Republicans, the WTO and allies, on his tariff proposals on steel and aluminium imports. Some market narratives have also been highlighted the short-lived tariffs on steel imports in 2002 by George W. Bush.
