The Yen has appreciated as stock markets returned to sputtering mode after U.S. and Mexico failed to reach a deal to avert proposed tariffs, with President Trump saying that “not enough” progress has been made on ways to limit migration. Talks between the U.S. and Mexico are due to resume later today, which looks to have mitigated risk aversion in markets. Chinese stock markets have underperformed, dragging the MSCI Asia-Pacific (ex-Japan) index into negative territory. The CSI 300 index is at its lows and showing a 1.2% loss in late PM trading.
