The dollar started Wednesday’s N.Y. session on a firmer footing, aided slightly by a stronger U.S. durables report. The greenback later gave back ground to the euro and yen. EUR-USD bottomed at better than one-month lows of 1.1719, before topping later at 1.1776. USD-JPY meanwhile, peaked at 113.25, a two-month peak, though profit taking over the figure stepped in, resulting in a downdraft to 112.38 lows. USD-CAD surged to 1.2461, levels last seen on September 1, as BoC chief Poloz threw cols water on hopes for ongoing rate hikes.
