The dollar started the N.Y. session on a firmer footing, though later slipped broadly, on concerns over Trump’s Asian trip, Saudi Arabia’s purge, and the naming of U.S. Commerce Secretary Ross in the so-called Paradise Papers. EUR-USD bottomed at 1.1580 early on, before rallying to 1.1616 highs after the London close. USD-JPY, which had printed eight-month highs of 114.73 in Asia, fell to 113.76 lows. Cable bounced to 1.3170 highs, as USD-CAD bottomed near 1.2725, pushed lower by 2.5 year highs for crude oil.
