The Dollar index vaulted to near two-year highs in N.Y. on Wednesday, taking the DXY over the 98.00 mark for the first time since mid-May of 2017. Cool Australia CPI, weak German Ifo data, and a dovish tilting BoC all contributed to the Greenback’s strength. There was no data today, and Wall Street took a breather from recent record highs. EUR-USD hit 7-week lows of 1.1181 early, later falling to 22-month lows of 1.1154. USD-JPY was sideways into the BoJ announcement, bottoming at 111.68, with a high of 111.96. USD-CAD popped nearly a big figure higher on a dovish BoC, topping at 1.3520.
